Privacy policy

Who I am
This website is run by Chef Aurélie (ABN 34 327 634 011), 202/37 Barrack St, Perth WA 6000, Australia. Email: hello@chefaurelie.com.au. I handle your information with care and follow the Australian Privacy Principles as best practice.
What I collect, and why
- Email sign-up (free printables and news): your email address, and the date and page where you signed up. Used only to send you the free printables and occasional real news, such as a new book. No spam.
- Purchases: your name, email address, country and what you bought. Used to deliver your files, answer questions and handle refunds. Your card details go straight to the payment provider. I never see or store them.
- Feedback form: your rating and comments, and your first name and email only if you choose to give them. Used to read and answer your feedback. If you tick the box, your review may be shown on this website with your first name only.
- "You tested it!" posts: your name, photo, comment and email address. Your email is used only to check that you're a subscriber and is never shown. Your post appears only after I've checked it, and only with your permission. I love feedback, positive or not, so please share! Just keep it respectful: anything that isn't won't be published.
- Emails you send me: whatever you choose to write, used only to reply to you.
The services that hold your details
I use a small number of trusted services to run this website. Each one stores your details only to provide its own service to me:
- Kit (kit.com): sends the sign-up confirmation, free printables and news emails, and keeps the subscriber list.
- Netlify: hosts this website and receives the feedback and "You tested it!" forms.
- Payhip: runs the checkout, delivers your downloads and keeps your order record. Card payments are processed by Stripe. If you choose to follow my store on Payhip, Payhip keeps your email to tell you about new products; you can unfollow at any time from Payhip's emails.
- Google (Gmail): my business email inbox, where your messages to me arrive.
- Cloudflare (Web Analytics): counts visits to the pages of this website anonymously, without cookies and without identifying you, so I know which pages are useful.
Books bought on Amazon: if you buy a Kindle or paperback edition on Amazon, your order is handled entirely by Amazon under Amazon's own privacy policy. Amazon doesn't share buyers' names or email addresses with authors, so I never receive your details from an Amazon order.
Some of these services store data on servers outside Australia (for example in the United States or Europe). They are well-known providers with their own privacy and security protections. Your details are never sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and never used for advertising.
Emails and unsubscribing
- You only get emails if you signed up yourself and confirmed your address (double opt-in).
- Every email shows who it's from and has an unsubscribe link. One click and you're off the list straight away (Kit does it automatically, well within the 5 business days the law allows).
- Buying a product does not add you to the newsletter unless you tick the box to say yes.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Payhip checkout and the Kit sign-up form may use cookies that they need to work (for example, to remember your basket).
Your choices and rights
- You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you. Just email me.
- You can ask for a review or "You tested it!" post to be taken down at any time.
- I keep purchase records as long as the law requires for tax purposes (usually 5 years).
Security
Your details are kept in the accounts of the services above, protected by strong passwords and two-step verification. If a data breach ever happened that was likely to cause you serious harm, I would tell you.
Children
This website is for adults. Children shouldn't sign up or buy without a parent or guardian.
Questions or complaints
Email hello@chefaurelie.com.au and I'll do my best to sort it out. If you're not happy with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
